This Saturday, June 8th we’ll be at 3 different market locations: Roslindale at the center green in the village from 9 am to 1:30 pm with loads of other vendors, Allston at Union Square, 500 Cambridge St. from 11 am to 3 pm with Marshall’s Farmstand, Jamaica Plain at 677 Centre St behind Bank of America from 12 pm to 3 pm with Stillman Farms. Did we mention our new seasonal Strawberry Rhubarb? Deliciously tart rhubarb cake topped with luscious strawberry buttercream.
Mini Food Truck Festival
Last Friday evening we were part of a mini food truck festival in the town of Lexington–it was fantastic, the weather cooperated and there was a great turn-out for the event. It would be awesome if more towns considered doing these mini food truck festivals with 3-6 trucks every Thursday or Friday evening, or even twice a month. A small festival creates a great community atmosphere where people actually go outside for an evening, listen to live local musicians, meet new neighbors, chat with old neighbors, let the kids run around.
Trucks drive up, open the window, start serving, finish, and roll away–how easy is that? No one but the food truckers have to cook dinner or dessert–even better! The coordinators of the Lexington festival did a great job of having just the right amount of trucks/vendors, adequate lighting for when it got dark, trash and recycling bins, seating, and deciding on the location (this one happened to be on grass with trees for shade–kind of important when planning summer evnets). If you’ve got an idea for a town mini food truck festival and want some feedback, ideas, or help feel free to call or email–I’d be happy to give my 2 cents.
